Hello everyone. I just stumbled upon this rather new forum and simply had to join. When I first watched the screening of Alby’s World Safari movies in the musty hall of a tiny NSW country town in the mid-80’s, a wave of excitement and adventure overwhelmed me. So in April 1987, I finally set off on a world adventure of my own with a mate of mine, and returned home the following year with a largely different perspective on life and was thankful I undertook the experience. I certainly credit Alby for that initial wave of inspiration back then, and have endeavoured to maintain some regular travel adventures in my life ever since, whenever I can ‘escape’ from the monotony of ties to family and the 9 to 5 routine.

I enjoyed reading Lynn Santer’s book on the life of Alby and gained a great deal from his ‘Living the now’ theory’. A very personal account of a wonderful life, the book is highly recommended by myself for its accounts of adventure and self-belief.

I’d love to hear from any Alby fan out there, as I love sharing different travel info and experiences. This year I spent a few weeks motorbiking solo through Laos and found the people rather shy but friendly. Check out my latest motorcycle adventures here:

Drop me a line if you wish. Can't wait to see the movie.
